Asbestos encapsulation
Our specialist asbestos team encapsulated designated areas before the subsequent external decorating and coating stages. The precise treatment system and compliance records are not published in this case study.
A striking commercial exterior refurbishment, bringing together large-scale cladding spray coatings, specialist asbestos encapsulation, timber and board repairs, and detailed finishing to fences, turnstiles and safety barriers.
For this substantial project at Mondelēz International, the challenge extended well beyond changing the colour of the exterior cladding. The scope involved preparing and improving multiple elements of a busy commercial site, coordinating different trades and achieving a coherent finish across large industrial elevations and smaller architectural details.
The building's distinctive purple appearance is the most immediately visible result. Behind it was a broader programme of specialist enabling works, repairs and finishing, including areas dealt with by our asbestos encapsulation team before the decorating operations proceeded.
The photographic archive spans earlier conditions, work in progress and finished surfaces, helping tell the story of the building's transformation rather than showing only the final coat of paint.
The project archive records ageing cladding and exposed details before the work, followed by the powerful purple finish visible across the building today.

Our role encompassed the prominent exterior surfaces and a series of associated repairs and smaller coating works that helped deliver a consistent appearance across the site.

Large sections of profiled industrial cladding received the recognisable purple finish. The archive shows varying stages of coverage, elevated working positions and the completed elevations.
Repairs to deteriorated timber around external door frames and window sills formed part of the wider exterior programme, addressing damaged details before final decoration.
Selected exterior boards were replaced on the reception and car-park side of the building, improving the surfaces and details incorporated into the refurbishment.
Metal perimeter fencing and pedestrian turnstile areas were also painted, extending the improvement beyond the principal building envelope and into its entrances and boundary features.
Selected safety barriers and external protective metalwork were painted yellow, bringing clear visual definition to key loading and circulation areas.

The dominant part of the visual transformation was the exterior cladding. Covering large profiled elevations and the varied geometry around service areas required the work to be approached as a commercial coating programme, rather than a routine wall-painting job.
Photographs in the archive capture the earlier blue and grey finish, intermediate areas where the application was progressing, and the final purple appearance around the building and prominent Mondelēz signage.
High-level access equipment appears throughout the archive. That reflects the practical considerations around working on long elevations, roofline junctions, canopies and busy external routes.
Learn about our commercial spray coatings ↗The project wasn't simply a visual recolouring exercise. The scope also covered necessary repairs to external door frames and window sills where existing timber had deteriorated, as well as replacement boarding on the reception/car-park elevation.
The earlier photographs show weathered and damaged frames, openings and edge details. These less obvious tasks mattered because the finished exterior needed to look considered across the whole property, not only on the largest cladding panels.
Our specialist asbestos encapsulation team also completed designated treatment areas before later coating works. Asbestos-related work requires the correct assessment, method and competent personnel; this gallery is a visual project record, not an asbestos method statement or certification record.

The external programme extended into surrounding areas. Fencing and turnstiles were painted, helping the site entrances and perimeter sit comfortably with the newly coated main buildings.
Selected yellow barriers were also repainted around the loading areas, entrances and circulation routes. Their bright colour contrasts with the purple cladding and makes these protective features a visible part of the final exterior.
This broader scope is what makes Mondelēz such a strong example of coordinated commercial refurbishment: one project bringing together several related types of external work, each with its own preparation and finishing requirements.

The purple cladding delivers the headline visual impact, but the project also demonstrates the value of combining specialist enabling works, fabric repairs and precise external painting in one coordinated programme.
For building owners, facilities teams and main contractors, it showcases the breadth of exterior decorating and refurbishment work that can sit alongside a large commercial coatings contract.
